Has anyone had a similar issue?
Basically I’ve been playing Cold War multiplayer and kept getting big frame drops that last for a second, no more. FPS will go from 144 to 90 and straight back up. If I monitor the cpu I can see it is hitting 100%.

So I OCd to 5100MHz and went back to the game but the situation is the same. My gpu is chugging along at 50% use so it’s not that.
Further testing shows the same scenario at stock clocks.
XMP is active and I run 32gb ram.

is there anyone with a similar issue? Should I RMA the cpu? It’s been really annoying me!

I am absolutely not educated ref this game and its utilisation, but what comes to mind is the recent talk of Nvidia being far, far worse than AMD in many CPU limited scenarios. Could it perhaps be as simple as that? I assume this is something that's always happened with Warzone.

Are you sure its not just the game? There are loads of reports over the internet of poor performance and fps drops. Its been like that every season.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.. the game has always been rock solid for me. Locked at 144 with 0 stuttering so I’m not sure. Maybe it is the game I don’t know. I know warzone is heavy on CPU use but standard multiplayer shouldn’t be too taxing.

I checked that video, it seems to be related to modern warfare and unfortunately that folder does not exist for Cold War, interesting watch though!

Ah I mixed up the two then. Try an fps cap of say 136.

I wouldn't send the CPU back if only noticeable issue is that game.

Have you checked task manager to make sure it's actually the game that's eating up your CPu cycles and not other software??

Some developments today.

So I game at 3840x1600 resolution. I thought maybe if I try to reduce the resolution I could stop the effect. Well doing that reduced the cpu load. Not significantly but it stopped the spikes.

previously, I would be sitting at maybe 70% and momentarily hitting 100%, causing the stuttering at this moment.
After reducing my res to 2560x1440 the spikes are gone. CPU load is still at 70%-ish

This is quite odd to me. There is obviously some CPU dependency on the graphical fidelity somewhere but it’s only manifested recently as I have not long purchased this monitor.

CoD games are always bad for crap like this, there is always something with CoD games that could be described as odd inexplicable behaviour.

Has there been a recent patch of the game then u discovered the issue, id check google and their forums see if anyone else has fps drop spikes. Could be a streaming assets issue or some other issue. Ive heard a few stories about that game and fps issues so id probs think its the game not the hardware. Do you have a modern nvidia card and use that latency feature i heard that has issues iirc.

I know cod isn’t the most optimised game in the world, hadn’t thought about the most recent patch or reporting on it to be honest. That is something I will do.
I also do use the nvidia reflex system and have not tried turning it off either. Maybe that is the issue? I’ll test with it off and report back
