970's having performance issues using 4GB Vram - Nvidia investigating

God, i'm not even replying to this.

Don't bother then.

i game at 2560x1080 just fine. other peopel game at 2560x1440 just fine as well. 970 isnt a 1080p.

I've said elsewhere that it should be fine up to 1440p. Over that is where you run into problems, and especially at 4k with high settings.

No, because i dont care about the bus. I bought the card on its performance, not some epeen statistics.

When the 670 launched I looked into it and at that time it didn't matter. At 1440p it most likely doesn't matter.

Take it to 4k though? there's a reason why every magazine I read recommends you use AMD cards at 4k.

So these days, and especially going into the future it most certainly does matter.

But then let's face it. Give it a few months and Nvidia will release the proper real high end Maxwell and every one will buy it in droves. So if you look at it that way? nah, doesn't matter. You'll only have the card for a few months before you go out and buy their next offering, which should be more than up to the job.

The bus is directly related to its performance, especially on higher resolutions... Holy **** is this the caliber of all your posts or what?

And if AMD need 512bit to compete with Nvidia 256bit then fair enough. That's their problem, cutting costs and increasing profit margins to cater to the market just makes good business sense. Doesn't stop the 980 being current generation top end cards.

That sub 300 mid range 970 is up there with that 600+ highend titan, I know where my money would go.

Really? then fair play to you. I paid for VRAM and a memory pipeline capable of 4k. You know? like properly, without having to dip into VRAM that runs like a turtle (and not a ninja one).

I get to skip this release completely, so my cards are already paying for themselves.

Tell you what, I'll let you know when my Titan Blacks are not good enough any more, and calculate how long I owned them before replacing them.

EVGAs are first :p

Still, only two cards
And you're not even running 4k because you reckon your cards ain't up to the task. Dat future proof, yo.

Seriously guys......who gives a farrrrrr what tier the cards lie in?

I paid 300 for my G1 which to me, right now, is an independent fortune........so to me....its as high tier as it gets.

I would like to know that I can use my card with DSR and every, single molecule of sweaty, expensive memory at the advertised speed.

There is an issue here and its not where the card lies. IMO, that is subject to wallet size

Meh.
I have no response to that. Other than I buy/change cards more often than I clean my balls. So talking to the wrong bloke :D

Lol at this response. But seriously, as someone who changes cards often as well, I had no intention of buying a 970 just for a 1gb upgrade from 780 ghz card. That's nuts to me.

In hindsight, I should have bought a titan. The titan black is my dream card.:D

where is all the rabid fan boys discrediting NVidia? you know - when FCAT came out (which nv supplied PCPER , but that's an aside).

now the same website is going the 10th degree to find out whats happening - and they are being slated by the green team fanboys? really?

I know they're up to the task I'm just not quite sure I want to go 4k just yet.

1600p isn't exactly low res, but hey I just found a Acer for £330 that's apparently 60hz 4k. So I could well go 4k after all :)

oh and a £300 card as `mid range` - LOL really?? its a high end card pure and simple - and since nv started ramping profits up - oh I mean `more costs in production passed onto retail` all cards are getting more expensive.

Nice to see you mate, been a while :)

It's a really nice thing to be on the fence when it comes to brands....

As for PCPER? they're doing people a massive favour, they just don't understand or realise it yet.

Crossfire would still be dire if it wasn't for them.

It's mid ranged money for an Nvidia these days.

Had a reply from OCUK about my cards and they're told me to fill out an RMA request??

I only sent them a message asking what there stance is on the issue and they tell me to request RMA?
