Ok guys i got another 970 for sli
Both cards i will try to overclock to 1500 on core and around 7900mhz on memory...

Now i have a 2500k overclocked at 4.8ghz would this hold the cards back at 1440 or 1080

Also i have Asus P8-Z68 V Pro mobo which has PCI 2.0 if i have sli the lanes will run at 2.0 8x each would this hold my performance back??

Many thanks....

Pcie speed wont matter a bit. But in some games the i5 cpu will hinder performance a bit. Titles like bf3/4, hardline, battlefront and Crysis 3 being ones that run smoother with an i7 and sli.

Depends on the games you will be playing. If any of the above id go for it if you can source a 2600k at a good price.

I'd be surprised if you got much if anything of a bottleneck with your existing cpu tbh, I have an old old i7 870 (@3.8Ghz) and tried a mates two 970's to see what they were like and it was epic (I play @5760x1080 spanned over three monitors)

I mainly play GTA V, BFBC2, Hard line,BF 4 and FSX

Have you tried SLI with them yet? Given your looking to upgrade later, I'd be inclined to say stick with what you have unless you find it really poor, which would very much surprise me were that the case.
