975X or P965 chipset

Is there anything major between these 2 chipsets i see the latest Asus and Abit boards have 975X. Where as the DS3 and DS4 don't have which am i best going for?
With either a E6300 or E6600

with 6300 965 (asus p5b/ gigabyte ds4/ds3/dq6)
with 6600 975 ( aus p5wdh, abit , the workstation ones, etc...)

Damn thats put it up abit now then as i was looking at a E6600 with a DS4 board.
But your saying it wold run better on a 975x chipset then?

4mb Cache Conroes are fine on P965s. It's the 2mb ones, with their lower multipliers that suffer on 975x chipset because it can't acheive such high FSBs.

The new asus workstation boards have a lot higher clocks for the 4 mb cache conroes than the 965 based mobo's, not that gigabyte boards have poor clocks (for 4 mb conroe) , they are still excellent, just the asus ones seem to be a bit better at the moment.

What about the Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X?
 
Seen as were on a 975X or P965 chipset debate, does anyone know the actual reason 975x chipset seems to provide better clocks for E6600, E6700, X6800 ? I havent seen many people using a P5B-Deluxe with a X6800 for example - dont they clock as high? i.e above 3.6ghz to 4ghz on air?

I have noticed a majority of people using the P5B-Deluxe reaching 3.5ghz to 3.6ghz though on various forums.

Intel boards are excellent, form what ive read ultra stable and no vdroop at all, wich makes it a nice clocker on low voltages, no unneeded heatpipes but a huge heatsink instead (like it should), i'd get either the intel board or one of the 3 asus workstation boards if i'd get a new mobo now (for a 6600).

Hevent seen much about abit ones, i personanlly think they arent that good, correct me if im wrong, I dint find a review posting how it overclocks, they only paste specs wich is useless for me, most sites say 125 to 600 mhz fsb range but didnt see any site yet where its proven to go even to 400.

I thought with the asus boards people were having problems with the bios or something?
Or have i misunderstood that?
 
Fixed ages ago, u needed to flash bios 1st with a diff chip, to make it c2d ready, thats been fixed, the other thing was something with rebooting, however performance wise they are the best for 4mb conroes atm, highest overclocks...

So if i bought a Asus board i wouldn't have to flash it as it's been fixed now or i'd still have to flash it but there's a bios that fixes it.? :confused:

I wanted a Asus board when i bought my AMD 3200+ but when i got to overclockers they's sold out so i ended up with a Abit kv8-max board which i've never been happy with really.
