98 RON versus 95 RON fuel?

iirc they do, but running a car on petrol thats that far of specification is beyond what it can cope with i believe.

All the people with Jap Imports on the Island seemed to manage on 97 Ron for the last 10+ Years without issue or remap.

A knock sensor doesn't tailor from 100RON to 95RON on an old jap car very well..

Perhaps not, but I was suggesting that 98RON would be fine.

Wow you have an answer for everything.

It is best for a Jap Subaru import to be mapped to the fuel it is going to run in the country, otherwise they do det, and they do blow up. This is not an opinion of mine, but what has happened to many many imports. Knock correction can only do so much.

Yes, I'm sure they will go bang on 95RON.

They will not on 97/98/99RON, evident by the amount of Imprezas over here that are still alive 10 years later with only 97RON available.

yes but how many of those were remapped on import ?

most decent importers should be mapping the car for UK fuel on import.

This is exactly the kind of confusion I was trying to get away from.

ScoobyDoo69 and others, I respect your opinions a lot so thanks for the input :)

To be fair, the best advice you've been given has been to speak to an importer/tuner that can advise you - just choose carefully to ensure you get impartial advise.
