98 to ME Upgrade issue

I just reinstalled Win 3.11 on my 486/33 and I thought that was at the bounds of lunacy.

If the XP2400 isn't being used why can't you put ME on that and copy over the data?

Alternatively give your father in law the ME disk :D

OFFS!

And there goes somethign that has not only gone past everyone here, but also me too!

JFCOAB!!!

Put ME onto the XP24!!! - Am I really THAT much of a 'tard?

I was on the phone to him a short while ago, actually and I told him that I dont think its wise ( for the millionth time ) and he said about giving him the ME disk, but like I said... Mine dont seem to want to upgrade 98 to me so thats half of why he wants me to do it (Even though he has seen it fail he still has confidence in me - you know the type ).

But yes, reinstall the XP24 with ME instead !!!!

Im absolutely shocked that I have not even thought about that??? - what a plonker!

Cheers dude... See what happens about that!

I can't actually believe what I'm hearing lol, someone who wants to upgrade to a 10yr old operating system. He is totally using you, charge him if he wants pointless computer work doing. And where on earth did he see ME anyway considering no one uses the pos?

In fairness, there are people here who advocate upgrading or fresh installing an 8 year old operating system on a regular basis...

If MS had produced a better consumer OS in the last 8 years then we would not need to use XP :D

To be fair XP was equally bad as Vista when it first came out and I only switched from W2k when XP SP2 came out and the hardware support finally overtook W2K. Whatever the current evangelism for Vista is I doubt it will be having the similar discussion in 8 years time about those who refuse to drop Vista.

His HD is a 10GB Seagate... More than enough for his needs - even with ME

Anyway he is bringing the XP24 box over tonight.

I mentioned putting ME onto that and keeping both systems next to each other and networked together so he can go o and fro for anythign he could need and he likes the idea

Wahey... Some success

But he still only wants ME on it

Boohoo - Ok, you cant win them all

Anyway, lets see how this goes.

I'd just refuse it's far to much hastle for a favour job. When I do IT stuff for my old people they get what they are given and thats it.
