I currently have a KFA2 980 watercooled.

Would you say its worth getting a 980ti or just SLI 980.

I plan on moving to 1440p 144hz monitor which is why i wanna upgrade either way.

Cheers.

I've not used either, but I think most people will advise you to buy the best single gpu / card that you can afford. Although the 980ti is more expensive than the 980, I think you'll reap greater performance per pound / dollar.

Think unless you have had sli before you can't just go by review sites. Listen to the people that's had sli/crossfire. When it works and you have proper scaling it will beat any single card set up, but it's a big if. Every game is different, I'm going from sli 780 to a ti today

980 is poor value compared to the 980Ti. There are still some 980s at £450+ and even at 1600MHz it would still struggle against a 980Ti at 1350MHz. Gibbo sorted 980Tis for £509.99 last week which gives you much more performance for your money than a 980.

From what I have seen from reviews and benches, an overclocked 980Ti will roughly match 980 SLI stock, in-game. Of course the 980's can also be overclocked, but the benefit of the Ti is 2-fold. 1) single card meaning you wont have SLI related headaches. 2) more vram headroom for higher resolution.

That said, either solution is going to get you very high fps in pretty much every game!

Answers depend on what games you like. In 1440p the 980 SLI can show a 30% advantage over a single 980ti. Yes, In some cases the gap can be significantly lower than that, if you run 1080p however, the gap between a 980ti in SLI 980s is consistently in the 980 SLIs favour as the resolution ramps. i.e. if you like Shadow of Mordor and Far Cry in 1440p or 4k, you are better off with 980 SLI rather than a single Ti.

keep i mind you will also need 2 additional 6 pin plugs for the extra 980 and the single Ti would keep things simple in terms of water-cooling.

The results on adding extra GPU power also depends on how strong your CPU is as in some games 1440p is CPU limited and adding additional GPU power may not give you the increases you expect from reviews and benchmarks.
