980 ti VRM cooling

Hi all.

I'm going to fit an EK Thermosphere to my 980 Ti and I'm going to add heat sinks to the VRMs - just wanted to check they are what I think they are - i.e. the components circled in red:-

Anyhing else apart from the ram and VRMs worth adding a passive sink to?

The full-cover EK block install instructions say to put thermal pads on the chokes too.

Not sure if it's actually required or just a precaution.

Are the chokes the silver ones with P22 written on?

You needn't bother putting heatsinks on the VRAM. Nvidia are perfectly happy not cooling them on the back of the Titan and Titan X

OK - all heatsinked up and waterblock fitted - core cool at 45c peak but VRMs are hitting 100c

Guess a 980 Ti at 1540mhz running volt modded bios needs something beefier than just passive sinks.

It's not all bad news though - EK full cover block and backplate on it's way I'll stick the Thermospheres on the members market..

Cool everything you can, VRM also i think, if there is solution for that, go active VRM cooling. Full cover sounds promising.
