The firing squad review says at the bottom that the first oc versions may be coming soon but surely this will just make them even more undesirable as the price on those will be even higher. This card for me is a big joke. I think nvidia is trying to lose the ground they have made on ati on purposely cause even though ati only have the second fastest card they have got there act together as of late.
We already have OC'd versions, a massive ten extra on the core and sixty on the memory for £270.

In one of those reviews, they say Nvidia's gona drop the prices of the 8800 GTS 512mb and the GT even more for it to fit in, now hows that gona work Nvidia, how is dropping the exact same cards price even lower gona get people to start buying your even dearer one.
Deary me, Nvidia are owning themselves big style, what a shambles, dropping the prices even lower of your original 9800 GTX's is not going to boost sales of your much dearer ones im afraid, its going to boost the sales of your much cheaper ones you muppets.

Maybe loadsa but as you know a lot of people don't read reviews or know to much about pc's in general. A gtx with a really low price tag may sell well because of the 9 at the start and the gtx at the end.

you say its ethically wrong, but who would spend £220-£250 on a gfx card without checking the bechmarks first?

Good card; but with 8800GTX now available for under £200, with +50% memory and bandwidth, it's difficult to see the short-term market for these cards.
I suppose improved power consumption etc is there, but bearing in mind the big overclocks some sites are reporting, one can't help but wonder if NV could have pushed the reference clocks a bit higher.

Hello LoadsaMoney, bit-tech have also done a review of the Nvidia 9800 GTX. Though, I suppose it doesn't really make any difference since all of the reviews are saying roughly the same thing.

I've just glanced at the Guru3d review and can scarcely believe my eyes.
At stock, the 1 1/2 year old 8800gtx appears to surpass it, possibly in the majority of tests, and moreover, the analysis for these tests seem to ignore this rather astonishing fact entirely!!!!!!!!!!
It's almost as though they've revealed the results by mistake and are now trying to pretend they don't exsist....then...finally...we come to page nine and the following quote:
"You'll notice that throughout the review the 9800 GTX is roughly as fast as a 8800 GTX"
And to conclude we have.....
"So yeah, I like the 9800 GTX. With that in mind I'm granting Point of view our "Gaming essential" award. So yes, the GeForce 9800 GTX is a product not very different than the GeForce 8800 GTX. It offers similar performance, but comes optimized, and with improved Purevideo core-logic and at a way better price. That's just awesome."

Looking at things in perspective, could we now say we have a new "king of longevity" in the 8800gtx/ultra? What other cards have managed to stay comfortably within the "premier league" for this long. Voodoo 2?????!!!!!!!!
