Hi

If I wanted to buy a direct replacement in power/spec for an AGP 9800 pro what current agp cards have the same power as a 9800 pro?

None, arguably the best card for price/power on the market, if not one of the best cards ever made. If you had one and its borked replace with another one off an auction site. That simple.

Can play all of todays games, admmitedly at low settings without todays eye candy, but can play them.

6600 GT is prolly the closest still available for sale but it can be a fair bit faster in some games. Would suggest a 7300 GT DDR3 (not out on AGP yet, if it even will be) or 7600 GT as a new replacement, both of which would be signifcantly speedier but as said already, you can pick a 9800 Pro up dirt cheap second hand now :)

thanks!

i didn't realise theer were so many 9800's aailable on auction sites :)

lots, they are an extreamly powerful card for their age. I owned one back in mid 2004, my friend now has it and is playing battlefield 2 @ 1024x768 on high detail with it :D lovely cards.

Maybe the nVidia 5950 ultra? Bit of a dissapointment at the time or maybe the 5800. But the 9800 pro is a legendary card and othing can match ir for the price :)

strange , ive just stopped using a 9800pro (after my 6800gt died) and i could get no where near high detail on 1024x786 in BF2 , infact i even ran my 6800GT at medium coz it lagged from time to time on high

that is unless i disabled AA & AF of course :)

oh hes not using AA/AF, that really would kill it. i myself when i owned the 9800pro only ran BF2 at medium as it always stutterd but at the time i didnt know you needed 2 gig of ram.
