Recently re-installed windows, 100% Up-to-date with Windows update, newest motherboard and graphics drivers, but im getting crashes in games. dispalys windows 100% perfectly, no crashes at all.

I can play the game for a random amount of time, sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 20 until it locks up, leaving the PSU light on but nothing working. Im using a GeForce 2 GTS atm and I have been sat ingame fine without any crashes.

Is this an overheating issue? I dont wanna spend £15 on a new cooler for my 9800 if its not the case. although the heatsink, and the back of the card under the GPU is extremely warm.

Or could this be a PSU issue?

Do you have a spare case cooler to push cool air onto the graphics card.
If the problem persists its likely something other than the cooler.

I did try having a case fan blowing onto it, but its not a very good fan and the heatsink/card is still very hot.

my old 9800 did that - just removed the side of the case so i guess for me it was a overheating issue.
