9800GT broken?

In my PC
I have a 9800GT that was getting too hot for my liking so i fixed it with thermal paste and was gaming for a couple of weeks then last week the card stopped working in one of my PCIe slots.(the blue 16x one)

So i tried another couple of ATI graphics cards in my motherboard and they both work fine,no issues at all so i think the motherboard is working ok.

So i tried the 9800GT in another slot on my motherboard and was surprised to see it working,so i tried it in the blue slot again and it STILL doesnt work.... it only works in my white/grey 8x PCIe slot so i put it down to my weak PSU and gave up and bought a new OCZ ZS Series 650W power supply from here and it has arrived today in perfect condition, but to my horror the card still wont work in my motherboards blue PCIe x16 slot. If i put it in the grey slot it constantly crashes when i try to play a game usualy within a minute or 2,sometimes it might take 5-20 minutes but 90% of the time it just starts crashing within 2 minutes.

The screen freezes and then goes black and then it tries to display the game again but will just keep doing this in a loop untill the whole PC crashes or locks up. I can see some driver message in the taskbar/tray but reinstalling my drivers doesnt help and remember the motherboard isnt even detecting it when its in the blue PCIe 16x slot!

Is it the card thats broke or the motherboard/CPU? Both my ATI cards work in the blue slot perfectly so i dont know why the 9800GT isnt detected in that slot and why it wont work in the other grey slot for more than 2 minutes when trying to play a game.I've never had a card that behaves like this before, usualy when my cards break they just display artifacts or wont even load windows at all but this is acting really strange,i've contacted OCuk and hoping to get the card RMA'd but im paranoid/afraid that its going to end up being the CPU or motherboard thats broken and waste even more time on this build! It was suppose to be working for xmas and i still haven't got it working properly!:(

Please give me some advice!

Just sent back the GPU and got an email today saying that it passed all tests,WTF? Could somebody please explain to me why the card does NOT work on my machine but 3 other graphics card do?(ati 3650/4850/6770) The thing isnt even detected by my motherboard in the blue PCIe slot! i tried clearing the CMOS,took the battery out the motherboard, took the whole PC apart and reasembled it outside of the case and it still didnt work! If i put it in the grey 8x PCIe slot the motherboard detects it and it works in windows 7 etc but as soon as i play a game it crashes within about a minute! The other 3 ATI cards i tested all worked on the motherboard perfectly,i played Crysis 2 and BF 3 on the 6770 for hours and it was working fine, WTF.!?!?!

"In accordance with our terms and conditions, you have been charged a testing fee of £10 + return shipping + VAT".......

Seriously p!ssed off right now...........

erm... this is a wild theory... maybe your motherboard hates nvidia cards? lol

LOL,it looks like that :P I just noticed something about my RAM setup, the timings are listed as 9-9-9-27 2N......does 2N = 2T for command rate? Mines has been set at 1T the whole time i've been using the PC:o Im hoping this is whats been causing the issue but it still doesnt make sense because the other 3 work and my system has passed prime95 with it set to 9-9-9-27 with a command rate of 1......fingers crossed that its my own stupid fault for not checking the timings properly!!!!!:D
