9800GT Temps

Hi,

Both my dad and I are suffering from some rather hot GFX cards and wanted some clarification....

My dads 9800 idles around 65 - 70 degrees and seems to be in the 85 - 90 range when playing GTA4 for instance. Whilst the temperatures seem a little high the case gets hot to the touch (Lian Li V1000)

Are these temps ok?


My issues are along the same line as the fan on the GFX card keeps revving up and down. Currently idling at 79 which I'm sure is too hot and under load seems to be just pushing past 100 degrees!

I'm using a Lian Li A70A Full Tower case which in all fairness needs a clean out but does have 6 x 120mm fans so I shouldn't think airflow is an issue.

Both PC's are running with the stock coolers however - are they worth changing?

Stock sink on the GT is not up to much, maybe needs a good blow out to get shot of some excess dust build up. For a small sum you can have the below cooler that will drop your idle and load temps dramatically.

Two coolers purchased, fitted and normal service has resumed

Idling in Windows at 44 degrees now. Gaming coming soon :>
