Decided to have a play with 3d and try overclock my gpu.

Done it a few times before - never any problems.

This time noticed that 3d has altered the settings to 1152x864 .

Makes no difference if I overclock or not. Tried uninstalling and re-installing - no change.

Drivers are 174 .(uninstalled Asus that came with card & reinstalled whql from nvidia website)

Only difference from last time I ran it is , so far as I can think, is that I'm running the 24" monitor.

Anyone any idea why 3d has changed the res.?

Am running free version on XP

Thanks

Correct, if you have the Full version you can change RES and AA/AF etc, and choose what Tests to run inc the Feature Tests you cant run in the Free Version.

It should however not be changing your RES each time, it runs at 1280x1024 no matter your Monitors Aspect Ratio (Im on 22" CRT so 4:3)

If 1280x1024 is above your monitor's ability, it'll run at the highest resolution it can in 3Dmark 06 free version. I know because I tried it once on a tiny CRT just for kicks.

9800GTX + 24" Monitor - Problems with 3d Mark 2006 ;)

I know. I'm just saying that's typically the reason why it'd run at a lower resolution. That being said, 3dmark is the only thing affected by this right? Chances are it's just getting confused for some reason...

Have decided best to start from scratch so have removed 3d and am now defragging.

Will look to re-seat graphics - just in case.

Am running standard res of 1920x1200

Will then install 3d and give it another go.

N.B. Just remembered that in addition to changing monitor since last using 3d I downloaded an update to my Terratec T.V. card ; I wonder?

had this problem with the 174.74 nvidia drivers. switched from dvi to vga so that i was able to select 1280x1024 in order to run 3d mark 06, also using a 24 inch lcd.
