How do 9800gtx+ cards compare with old 8800gtx, a lot of opinions state that they are infact worse.

How would this card handle stuff like crysis and company of heroes?
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-074-BG&tool=3

i want to be able to run crysis on all settings set to high with no AA at 1280x1024 at least.

ps If you look at the first review for that card, the customer states it only uses one pcie connector????

There's not much between the two to be honest - they are different architectures optmised for different things.

9800 GTX+ should handle that res fine, i played it on that all high with a GT.

Also as said above, at higher resolutions, higher AA etc... the 8800 GTX would be better, as its got a bigger bus, and more memory.

I would go with the 9800GTX+ if I had the choice.

Only in rare circumstances will the 8800GTX pull ahead (i.e. very high res and AA settings) ... BUT in such cases fps would probably be too low on the 8800GTX anyway.

In all other cases, the 9800GTX+ will be a fair bit faster; remember, the 9800GTX+ competes with the HD4850, so it's a pretty fast card.

I have 2 of that exact same card, although their heatsinks are different, slightly. I can confirm that the card has 2x 6-pin connectors. I have 2 6 pin cables going into both cards (four in total).

Cannot say wether they can be run using only 1 PCIE power cable cus I've never tried.

Some have only one connector, most have two. The 2-connector cards will not run with only one plugged in.

look at benchmarks and reviews for high res
1900*1200 if possible

make your mind up on those results

especially look for the low end framerate rather than the average

see what each cards drops to when its struggling as that shows how well it performs when under pressure

Anyone have actual proof that the 8800gtx performs better than the 9800gtx+ at higher resolutions?

575mhz vs 738mhz is quite a difference.

I have 8800 ultras in SLI and at enthusiast settings, 1680 *1050 no AA i average around about 20FPS haven't played it in a while so thats a guesstimate

at 1280x1024 i almost wet myself with how smooth it ran with everything at high, physics, water & sound at ultra high, so far ramped everything up to max except volumetric, shadow & AA

Also idles at 40c which is amazing
