9800GX2 in a MicroATX?

Hi Folks,

I was wondering if anyone knows if I would be able to get a 9800GX2 in a Coolermaster Elite 340 MicroATX case. From the looks of it, it might fit in there as there isn't anything blocking the right hand side of the case - but I was wondering about heat issues.

My options are stick a 8500GT in there and use HybridSLI for a performance boost, or put a 9800GX2 or GTX in there and use HybridSLI for energy efficiency.

I'd pretty much guarantee that will fit. There's bags of room in the lower section of the case where the GX2 will be. Get a 120mm fan in the front and you'll have a nice supply of cool air to the card too.

Looks like a properly designed MATX case to me TBH.

Ah - thats great news. Thanks for replying. I might fork out the extra for the 9800GX2 then.

Just need to work out what the max CPU my board can take now...

I have one of these - got it beacause of the layout. You'll fit the GX2 in easily

You not fancy waiting for the new cards on June 18th, they are apparently double the speed of the GX2, and single cards.

I agree with LoadsaMoney. It's generally a bad idea to "play the waiting game" but the fact that its less than 4 weeks until they're released, I would expect the 9800 GX2 will at least drop in price even if you don't go for the newest cards!

Oooo! 4 weeks. Its going to take that long for next pay day to come around anyway! Looks like I will be going for the newer card, or a cheapo GX2....
