9800GX2 (tomshardware.com)

According to Toms the 9800GX2 is going to be $449 US.

Thats far cheaper than expected.

If thats true, thats £227 (direct conversion)

Which is only £17 more than an 8800GTS...

Which sounds like total bullhooks to me, can't see nVidia selling their flagship card consisiting of 2 x 8800GTS's for £17 more than an 8800GTS.

So lets strap on £75 for the sake of rip-off-britain.

That means ~£300 for the 9800GX2, which is still less than what most 8800GTX's are still retailing for...

Also, if nVidia are planning on releasing the 9800GX2 for even £300 then its serious pressure on ATi to release the 3870X2 for sub £250 to be even competative, it really needs to be in the £230 price range...

Strange going ons for sure...

yeh we get shafted again :D

On a side note though in referance to these dual pcb cards, the hardware is obviously there to make these cards really fast 2 GPU's to half the work load and and ample amount of vram so is the poor performance in relation to hardware a case of it not being told how to work properly together to render frames efficiantly. ie:- the hardware that tells sli how to work isnt up to the job rather than the concept just being flawed?

hope that makes sense to someone :/
