9800pro to 9800xt

yeah there is no pipes to unlock, so just overclock it.

you get a really small boost by flashing the bios due to enhancements in the core, your pro needs to have an R360 core before flashing bios to XT. Imo its not really worth flashing.

Only way is to remove the heatsink and see what it says on the core.

You will need some sort of cleaner (alcohol or Akasa TIM remover), magnifying glass (or brilliant eyes) and some new thermal gunk.

Could take the opportunity to stick an arctic cooler on it too.

Go get ATItool and it says what the core is on that software.. On options theres a properties bar and it says on there, may say it on something else but you get the jist...

no it doesn't. it only tells you what the bios is. not the core. only way to find out for sure is to whip the cooler off and have a looky. :D

Well it does it with my X800XT PE and my 9600SE.

Quite right, I have a 9800 pro with a R360 core and until I flashed it ALL utilities reported it as R350. As the card had a XT PCB I was reasonably sure it had a R360 core but I had to remove the heatsink to find out.
