Are temps even really an issue for this? It seems to run a lot cooler than the 7800x3d did (probably largely due to moving the 3d cache)
No, I agree with you, they are probably not an issue. But I want to undervolt and overclock with a modest voltage increase. I would be content if I can get to 5500Mhz on all cores.
 
No heat at all. Heat would be counterproductive as you want the indium to stress fail. The movement of the IHS via delidding tool is all you need. I moved the IHS 43 times front and back. The IHS will come loose and can be removed without any force at all.
 
I used Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut LM to clean the indium off the chip and then used rubbing alcohol to het the LM of the chips. A very thin layer of LM on the 2 chips and on the Mycro Pro water cooler.
Edit to say that I originally planned to use Thermal Grizzly Kryosheet as heat transfer but got advised from Thermal Grizzly that this will not work well as the thickness of the Kryosheet (0.2mm) is too much for the direct die cooler.
