9800x3D / MSI Carbon x670e Intermittent Boot Issue

Hi,

I've recently upgraded my computer from an AM4 setup over to AM5, full spec's below.

MSI Carbon x670E
9800x3D / Noctua NHU-12S Cooler
G.skill 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30
RX7900XT
Samsung 990 Pro 2TB (gaming)
Samsung 980 pro 256GB (windows drive)
Samsung 980 Pro 1TB (gaming)
ASUS Rog Thor 850w platinum PSU

Since doing the upgrade the computer is very inconsistent with start up / shut down. When i power on the PC sometimes it'll boot straight up to desktop as normal, other times it'll boot up and just hang on a black screen forever. When it hangs sometimes but not all of the time the EZ debug light is solid yellow under BOOT. The only way out of this black screen is to press the restart button, when doing this it sometimes starts fine and other times it repeats the black screen / monitors off. I can get into the bios no problem on the times when it actually boots properly, when the pc does boot and is up and running it runs and games perfectly, good temps and nothing alarming. I've updated my Mobo bios to the latest version and did a clean install of windows 11 after the hardware changes. I have all of the correct drivers from AMD / Windows installed.

Now i understand that AM5 needs to train memory? but i don't feel like this is normal behaviour. I've had a search about on the internet for similar issues but can't find any answers that have worked (EXPO is enabled). I've built a handful of computers before without any issues, im wondering have i missed something or potentially messed something up or even the possibility of something faulty?

If anyone could possible shed some light on this issue that'll be great.

No, i installed windows with all 3 m.2 ssds installed. I've not tried it with the other 2 SSD's removed.

If anything i'd say it was worse with expo disabled?

You need to download and run mem test and test at stock and expo .

Also try running with just one stick then try the other stick by itself.

I shall do this later this evening, should i be using mem test64 or 86? I've reverted back to a previous BIOS, unfortunately it didn't make any difference.

Windows some times put hidden boot files on extra drives if they are installed (not sure if it still does this) and could be failing to locate them.
Think you should get a on screen message about missing boot media, or something like that though.

If it boots and runs ok with only the 256GB drive installed then all files are on that drive.
