Hello

Looking to upgrade to an 9800xr3d and would like some advice on best mobo and ram to pair. Looking to spend between £800- £900..

Will only be used for gaming already have a 9070 xt to go with it.

Thank you Micky for the advise should have mentioned looking to go white on this upgrade as the only 9070xt I could get was the sapphire pure also already picked up the artic liquid freezer 3 360 in white.

Hi
Usb 4 and pcie 5 would be nice not looking to upgrade for awhile after this. Not to worried about RGB but do seem to like the aorus boards but not essential.

This is a combination with PCI-E 5.0 and the Aorus Elite, but USB4 is missing.

It may require a BIOS update for 9800X3D, but it does support USB flashback.

The RAM sockets are black, so I figured black RAM doesn't matter.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £877.96 (includes delivery: £7.99)

would the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D be the go to gaming cpu right now ? im looking at upgrading from a ryzen 9 3900x ? and 2080 super gpu

It's the best gaming CPU out at the moment, so in that sense yes. But if you pair it with anything short of a mid-high end GPU it's probably wasted potential.
Depends on your use case and the rest of your parts.

Yea i would be wanting a high end gaming machine, so i would be looking at near a whole new set up, im thinking 9800x3d and a 5080 maybe be a good choice ?

£800-900 for just motherboard and ram? Or including the 9800x3d?
I'd go with something like the
Corsair 64gb (2x32gb) 6000MHZ CL30 Kit (£179.99)
and
ASRock Phantom Gaming X870E Nova WiFi (£345)

High end board with mid range price. IMO is the best value offering out of the higher end chipsets.
