980ti->1080ti ?

i have the msi 980ti with 1 year warranty left and thinking of selling it for a EVGA 1080ti SC black edition as it supposably has low coil whine.
i game at 120hz with a benq xl2411t gaming monitor at 1920x1080 with a dvi dual link cable
would there be much benifit for me? and do the 1080ti run cooler than the 980ti? my card is around 80c gaming. do all 1080ti fans stop on idle like the msi 980ti does?

Agree with wedrum, at 1080p the 980ti is plenty. I use 2 x 980ti at 1440p 165hertz and every game is maxed with ease. Mine are the MSI brand, but they don't get hot like yours. If you are considering moving to 1440p, changing to a 1080ti would be a good move.

Wouldn't bother for 1080p unless you have money to burn.

I was tempted to get a 1080ti over my 1080 as gaming is my only real hobby, but just decided to stick with the 980ti and overpay the mortage for the month.

was thinking of up coming games like destiny 2, cod ww2 etc. i guess il see how they run then if im not happy get the 1080ti

Using a 1440p 60Hz IPS panel. I just upgraded my Gigabyte 980Ti G1 @ 1.5 to the EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 Stock. Temps and noise is down, while FPS is up so I am happy. Will stick my 980Ti on the bay for ~£300.

no, not really. the 1080ti is more aimed at a 4k card rather than 1080p. the 980ti is fine for 1080p/1440p
