980ti SLI not as powerful as expexted?

Hi,
So I just built a new rig last weekend and I decided I want to go all out!
I ended up buying two Inno3d 980ti hybrids as I saw some nice reviews.

I thought a good test mark for this would be something like call of duty advanced warfare campaign, so I ramped everything to max settings @ 4K and I was pretty disappointed... Fair amount of lag, I thought two 980ti's would have bombed that easily

What are your thoughts and am I expecting too much from my cards?

The rest of my rig is;
I7 4930k
H100i GTX
GA-X79-UD3 MOBO
Inno3d 980ti hybrid X2 in SLI
Samsung PRO 840 boot SSD
Hyper X 240gb SSD X2 in Raid 0
Be Silent Base 800 Case

Have you tried any other games?

From what I remember, Advanced Warfare ran like a pig with multi-GPU's unless that was just with AMD.

AW runs crap with SLi m8, ran great for me maxed out at 4k with one card

I don't really have many other graphics intensive game atm, waiting for fallout 4 and SW battlefront thanks for the help!

Wolftenstein doesn't work with SLI.

Running max settings at 4k you could argue that most do

But no, just the odd one that doesn't like SLi

How come this is still a problem now days?... I remember 5-6 years ago when I last had SLI it was a big problem with a lot of games but I thought by now SLI would be fine with almost any game :/
