980ti sli power supply

Once again Nvidia has given us another highly efficient card and reviews have shown total system power to be less than 400w so 850w would be more than enough to power a pair.

One thing I will say though, none of the higher end EVGA psu's are on this week only at the moment so wait and see what the new deals throw up tomorrow before buying.

Should be fine. But you might not be running in the optimal efficiency zone.

Id get bigger..as it don't cost much more for a little bit of future proofing. What ifbu wanna go tri?

Iv ordered the 850w G2, did contemplate going for a larger one but after reading some reviews I decided against it as i have no plans to go tri sli, ordered some cablemod cables with the spare cash

Go and read some reviews. He's going to have at least 400-450w spare so hid psu will be at most around 50% loaded. Ridiculous to spec even more power.

I have. And I know. If he oc's both GPUs and his CPU then 850 will likely be fine. But why not just get some extra headroom. The cost is negligible.

My AX1500i tells me that at 1530/8000 my total system load NEVER exceeds 530W, and in most games is more like ~440W.

That's only 980s but they are almost 50% overclocked, I'd imagine they don't use much less power than a stock 980ti. I'm sure 850W will be fine even allowing for the higher CPU TDP.

I'm also running 3x 7200RPM drives which I image are not too power efficient.

That's good. My wall plug told me I was pulling 600w in games. That's 680sli'd and oc'd to the edge. I was rocking a 5 year old bequiet 750w..so figured I'd times that number by 2 to get to 1200. Then bought a 1300 as it was on offer.
