Hey guys can you give my some advice

My 980ti is stuck at 1050mhz clock and 3500mhz memory which is causing the card to idle at 60c which causes strain on other items in the case.

Even if i reset to default on msi, it's still on full wack :(

How can i get it to lower it down?

Do you have it set to Max performance in the control panel?

If so change to adaptive. :)

I had the same problem, I had to use Nvidia inspector to optimise for multiple displays...even though i only have one screen. (34" 3440x1440, just mentioning because i was wondering if you also used a 21:9)

After this, idles at about 405mhz.

And yeah 60c is probably fine...but why put up with the extra heat and potential fan noise for no reason.

I'm waaaay out of touch these days but I'm fairly certain that 60C is nothing for a GPU. If it was 100C then I'd worry but 60C? Nah.

His clocks shouldn't be set that high on the desktop though! 60 degrees is way to high at idle.

To the op have you tried a clean driver install?

Cheers guys, i tried resetting nvidia control panel to defaults in 3d settings but nothing.

Had to uninstall msi afterburner, reset defaults in control panel, restart, reinstall msi and its all fine
135
405.

Now im curious, if i set an overclock in msi will it still idle at the mhz i've mentioned above

When you set to adaptive in control panel, did you reboot? If you switch the setting without reboot it won't make a difference.

I fear you may have did the reinstall of Afterburner needlessly. You should be able to set an OC without issue.

It's not a good temp for the card to be at 24/7. Idle should be 20-30c because it would normally be sat at 130mhz.

Leaving it burning away at 60c could take a lot of time off the cards lifespan.
