980Ti whine...

So, I've gone through 4 980Tis (3 G1 Gaming, 1 Strix), and 2 PSUs, and my card still has a bit of whine to it. I have a SuperFlower Leadex 850W Gold, my Gigabyte G1 Gaming whined a lot with this PSU, after replacing the G1 with a Strix, there is a lot softer whine, however it's still a little bit audible. The person who bought my G1 Gaming claimed there was "no whine whatsoever" and he was using it on a Coolermaster Bronze rated 600W PSU.

Do you think it's the PSU at fault, or even my house's general electric or similar? I tried using a different surge protector with no luck, as well as a different wall socket with no luck. I suppose it's equally possible that my current PSU is causing it to some extent.

I'm thinking about buying a SF 750W Platinum and seeing if that's any better, however the guide on this sub says that even Platinum rated PSUs may still cause whine... I don't think it's necessarily fair to try a PSU and send it back if it doesn't fix the said problem, so I'm not really sure what to do.

Hmmm...I have used a 750W EVGA PSU and a 1000W and no whine and as far as I know both are Superflower inside

The thing is, a 7970, 750Ti, a 970 and 2 980s have had no whine whatsoever, it's the 980Tis that have been the problem.

Since I don't think it's a problem with the cards, I'm thinking it could be me getting two PSUs that cause 980Tis to whine.

The EVGA G2, P2 and T2 units are basically Superflower Leadex Gold, Platinum and Titanium units. Superflower build these three model ranges for EVGA and just about the only difference is the fan, lack of led's and EVGA giving them a bigger warranty.

That and the difference of PSU connectors, I like SF's anything can go in anything system, even though they're proprietary.

Saying that, I'd pick up an EVGA unit if they were white in all honesty.

I'm having a similar issue. My Seasonic Platinum causes my 780 Ti and 980 Ti to whine but my 7 year old Coolermaster silver PSU massively reduces it.

I plan to RMA the Seasonic. It makes a buzzing noise anyway.
