Hey everyone, with the recent news of ryzen 3000 series. What are your thoughts of current gen intel CPUs?

I require a intel for various ressons, but would have bought the 3000 series had it been out in a heart beat. Slight buyers remorse but no choice as certain applications only run on intel.

Where do you see the 9900k in two years time?

Will still be a solid CPU high clock speed and it’s still 8/16 even 4/8 are fine for games just you can now benefit from a couple more threads now.

CPU's last for years, there are still people running 2500K's here and finding them plenty.

A 9900k is a real power house of a CPU for gaming as is the 9700k, they will easily be powering games in 5 years time. CPU's are not like graphics cards as when gaming 1080P and higher the GPU does far more of the work.

If your a content creator, then yes of course AMD performs better in applications they work best in, especially the threadrippers!

Still running a 3930k cpu. Not a problem with it in gaming and workloads.

I meant hiw the release of ryzen and ryzen 3000 Wil impact new games etc and software. Microsoft alrraalupdating windows to utilize threadripper. Aslong as I get two years im happy

Isn't that a laptop CPU?

Well it's desktop level just can't be overclocked, but yes it's in my laptop. I'm a laptop guy now I don't sit at a desk long enough to warrant a desktop anymore.and my laptop performs so fast it's desktop level.

I'm still running my 4790k and don't need to change it. I probably will when Zen 2 launches but that's purely because I fancy a new platform and a bit of a project / watercooling refresh.

The 9900 will still be relevant and more than suitable to desktop and gaming workloads in 4 years time at least.

I onlt upgraded to 9900k as I sold my 6700k mobo combo for £400

The 6700k upgrade wasnt really needed tbh...

the 9900k will last yonks!
