hi all, itching for an upgrade, not really needed other than maybe to reduce the long transcode times of adobe after effects, but i get the itch every now and then, some sites say its 40+% better than mine, is that correct, my 9900k is current oc @ 5ghz, i have multiple nvme ssd's and a 3080ti, so only thing left to upgrade is the cpu m/b, got spare ddr4 so no need for that unless ddr5 is getting better latency's.

Yes, in some scenarios it can be much faster (the 12th gen P-cores are significantly faster at the same clock than Skylake cores and there are 8 E-cores in the 12900K which will help with some productivity tasks), but I'd see if you can find some specific benchmarks for what you are doing, because with this kind of stuff it can be very hit and miss, especially when you're running a 5 Ghz all-core. Gaming is different, so I'm not referring to that.

Ιn MT workloads like transcode im pretty sure its way more than 40% faster. It's actually twice as fast, sometime even more than that

If you're going to wait then factor in Ryzen 7000 as well since it's being announced around the same time. You'll make a much more informed choice when you have the complete picture available to you.
And if longevity of your system/platform is important, the new AMD kit will bring significant benefits in this regard.

Assuming of course you are willing to march on forums and social media to publicly shame amd for days, sure, then youll get support for 2 year old outdated cpus (zen 3 om x370 )
At least they have the ability to offer support as they have a well thought out architecture roadmap, whereas with Intel their designs are based around global warming targets and whatever happens to fall off the fab that week.

Was never concerned about their ability to offer support, I know the ability is there. I'm more concerned about their willingness, given how my b350 received support for zen3....2 years after their release LOL. Imagine having to wait until 2028 to put in CPUs that were released in 2026 on the first am5 boards. Not great support
