So I finally retired my much loved 9900K & went with ASrock Z790 Pro, 13900K & 64Gb DDR5 5600. Anyone on the fence about upgrading from 9th gen or older here's abit of info..

This thing absolutely ROCKS! Paired with the nzxt z73, running vcore with -100 offset it will run 5.5ghz on Pcores with 2 hitting 5.8ghz (MT enabled) & 4.3ghz on Ecores with temps 27c idle, ~60c gaming ( warzone II ) & ~85c 10min cinebench R23 run @ 38,879 MT score @ 256Watts. Also gone from ~120fps to ~180fps in Warzone II and finally getting everything out of my EVGA 2080TI ftw3 ultra which I plan to keep a few more years as its still beating every game I play including DCS in VR.

I use vidcoder & the 13900K chews through encoding 3~4 faster than my 9900K, its an absolute BEAST!! Well worth the upgrades imo.

Possibly, it would need to be one of the first gen Ryzen boards: X370/B350/A320. If it is, you can usually install any AM4 CPU with a bios update (5800X3D or 5950X are highest CPUs).

Thanks, I have been tempted myself as I see the performance per core has gone up a lot between the chips.

ive just upgraded from 9700k to 13900 and differences in cpu usage are huge. bf 2042 went from 90% usage on average at 1440p to 30% usage. R6 seige barely reaches 10&
However one thing thats bugging me cinebench r23 multi-core score is 18k when it should be 32k.
Not sure why, its all set on auto and boosts on all core and voltage set to 1.25v with xmp enabled
