Hi guys,
I am running a 9900ks with an Aplhacool Eisbaer Extreme 280mm AIO and I am having a hard time keeping the temps down.

I am currently 'overclocked' to 5.2GHz at 1.28v vCORE.
Idle temps around 38~ degrees.

When I run cinebench it will break 95'c depending on room temp.
I ive tried running prime95 but the temps jump to 99 -100 then my pc will crash.

I have been looking at reviews of other AIO's paired with 9900k's, they seem to be able to get 80 degrees with 1.36v.

I have tried reseating the cooler several times, ive tried different mounting pressures. I have replaced the 2 bequiet fans with 4 noctua 3000rpm fans which gave the results above.

Is the alphacool faulty or my CPU defective?
I am really tempted to buy a NZXT AIO and see if it is better.

Is there clear temperature difference between tubes?
If not then there's problem in coolant flow.

And that Intel Extreme Panic Edition CPU is certainly one hot stone... err stove.
360 should be minimum radiator size for that.

you dont have a 9900k, you have the updated model 9900ks which runs faster out of the box

9900ks

4ghz all core base clock
5ghz all core boost

9900k

3.6ghz all core base clock
4.7ghz all core boost
5ghz boost but on one core if thermals are under control

simply put the 9900ks runs warmer as all cores and threads are at 5ghz, overclocking means you run into thermal problems quick unless you have beefy watercooling, even then its a struggle

What wookiee87 said.

At least your Eisbaer Extreme 280 uses VPP755 pump rated 350L/h and 4m lift which is pretty good. The flowrate of CLCs is about as much as a young adult can urinate (47L/h average), and that's before having a few pints. For comparison D5 rated up to 1200-1500L/h and 3.7m lift, but many users don't run full speed. ;)

I would say you are lucky to get 5.2GHz, I got a binned chip from OC this week along with an NZXT 360 AIO my overclock is 5.1 @ 1.36v running cinebench 20 @ 5.1 = max temperature of 83c.
I did try 5.2 but the temperature was hitting 90c using cinebench. I played assassin's creed for 4 hours before it reset so I have settled on 5.1 with a AVX offset of 1 so it underclocks when running AVX. I think that's as high as it will go without causing damage.

OP, your temps look normal. Understand you are pushing a lot of heat through a very small chip with small core count. There ain't a lot of space to dissipate that heat.

100c is not normal. Even for an air cooler.

The 9900k's do get hot, purely because of the thicker die. But not to the point of 100c, especially with the speeds and voltages you have described.

Ensure to run only prime 26.6 as others run AVX which will make the cpu run extremely hot. If you need AVX then its best to set an offset in the bios.

Mine for reference gets to around 75-80c at 5.2ghz (prime95). Around 60-70c at 5ghz which is what i run 24/7.

hi there i have the same aio on a 9900k clocked at 5.1 GHz all cores v/core is 1.30 temps never go over 85c and thats just some of the cores for a few sec lol in any game I play temps never go over 45well sometimes 50cc so there must be a fault with your aio our you have not mounted it right
