Aside from the slight bump in clock speeds is there any benifits of having the 9950x3d over the 9800x3d for gaming ? . Even if a game can use more than the 8 cores 16 threads of the 9800 isn't the core parking making the use case redundant? Or am I missing something blindingly obvious

For 99% of games, no. The majority only utilise a handful of cores at most ; there are a few exceptions eg. Factorio, MSFS 2020/24.

I understand some games all but only a few will utilise more threads, but if when playing games 8 cores are parked that makes the 9950x3d basically a 9800 for the purpose of gaming?
