9980xe or wait?

There's always something around the corner when it comes to upgrading.
However in this particular instance i would be inclined to wait for that something rather than going for 9980xe.

Well I'd preferably like to finish the build by mid February.
So if nothing else is better I will stick with the 9980xe

If you are looking to get it finished soon, then you'd need to order one reasonably quickly we've been quoted a lead time of 4-6 weeks. I don't think any one in the UK has had any stock yet.

9980XE is very unlikely to be beaten, we have stock due today/Monday.

However we shall also have W3175X arriving next year which is Intel monster CPU, but it shall also cost around £3900

w3175x would be ideal. all you have to do is turn it on a connect it to your central heating system and your house will be nice and warm :D

Yes but we rarely move to a new process node (I mean recently)… so the jump to 7nm is worth the wait ! !

Doesn't seem to be much coverage at all of the 9*** X299 based CPU's. With AMD raising the game does nobody care about X299 anymore or is it that the mainstream is now much closer? For example, looking at the specs an 8 core 9900K looks the better choice(lower base clock but higher boost) than the 8 core 9800K unless the extra lanes are needed.

Doesn't help that the 9980XE is literally the exact same chip as the 7980XE with a soldered IHS. So relatively unexciting
