So when the 9xx mobile series GPU's were announced, all the reports and reviews said it supported/would support NVidia's DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution).

Does anyone else find it strange that nearly 6 months down the line the list of supported GPU's does not include the 970m or 980m, yet shows many older desktops GPU's along with the 965m?

I've tried googling for info on this but come up short. Can anybody shed some light on why NVidia seem to be short changing those who bought a "high end" mobile GPU?

Well that's a little annoying if that is the case because my GT72 doesn't use optimus, part of the reason I went with it. This would also imply that there will be no laptops with the 965m using optimus at all.

I'm wondering if anyone with more knowledge than me can hack the drivers to add functionality.

Edit: Heh, turns out the G-Sync drivers linked in the Asus thread may have/be getting this added.

Assuming you are referring to G-Sync, my understanding was any eDP system should support it. Either way, my laptop has the same LG IPS panel as fitted in the Asus from what I've seen around the web.
