A 5.1 separates system better than Sonos

Hey, I’m considering a full on Sonos home theatre setup, Arc, Sub and 2 x Sonos Era 300. This should cost around £2300.

I’m not that bothered about Atmos, is it possible to build a separates 5.1 for the money? What kit would you use?

Thanks for the reply

Are there any low profile centers people would recommend? The TV is quite large and takes up most of the wall so could do with something 10cm high ish. That’s actually why I looked at the Arc in the first place.

I've just went down this same route, replacing a similar sound bar. Samsung but got reviews as good as Sonos.

I went with the Denon 1800, and some q acoustic speakers (mostly aesthetic reasons). Absolutely night and day difference.

Cost me less than a grand all in.
Which Q acoustic speakers did you buy?

Yes. But Sonos is simple, smaller, and more wife friendly. I went from a high end 5.1 system (Monitor Audio Golds etc) to Sonos Arc, Sub, Play 1 surrounds and I don't miss the old system at all.
Interesting, is there anything you miss from the old system? For me, this is going in a dedicated room so can be a bit more flexible with speakers.

Thanks folks, didn’t mean to start an argument. The 5.1 AV system needs more thought so I’ll listen to a few systems.

The Q Acoustic 5000 series look interesting as even though it’s a dedicated room, I want it to look good.

I’m confused by how much the price of receivers varies and what the higher priced ones actually add.

For now I’ve picked up an Arc with a view to swapping it out for an amp/speakers in the future. It can replace the Beam in the living room if I do that :-)

The Arc sounds fantastic (to me at least) but I did need to use an HDFury Arcana to get Atmos, DTS-MA passed directly to the soundbar. Sorting that out made an enormous difference. I’ve had to do this with three TVs so far, at this point I think Sonos should probably buy them and integrate the tech into their sound bars as it’s night and day.

OK cool, thanks. Are Sony AVRs good? I’ve been looking at the TA-AN1000. Generally I like Sony gear (that said TV this wil go with is is a Samsung S90C as I couldn’t bring myself to pay the additional Sony tax).

Room is 4.8mx6m. Sofa is about 4m from the TV.
