A 690 or 2x680's

arguably the dual 680's will be more overclockable than the 690 (until we see reviews we won't know for certain but it seems pretty likely)

other than that it will come down to pricing - the cheaper end of 680's are the same or slightly below (depending on what sort of special offers may be available) the sort of price we are being told the 690 will be

for a multi monitor setup you might be better off with 4GB models, although they are hella expensive right now

Do all the games you want to play support SLI? Do you have a tri-monitor setup?

No, just game with one monitor and have no intention of going multi monitor, I do have a few games that support sli but the reason i'm considering sli is because of 3D and I watched a video somewhere, new egg maybe, where some nvidia bloke said you can use one card for left eye and one for the right eye taking away the dissadvantage of one card having to produce two images and thus lowering the frame rates.
Don't know if there is any truth in it though.

I'd go for two 680's, faster, easier to sell. If one dies you can still play games to a reasonable standard while you wait for replacement. :)

People that buy the 690 should get 2. :P

+1 two 680's

I'm guessing the difference in price won't be that much of an issue if you're shelling that much :)

I can't wait to go SLI/multi monitor :)

Basically the 690 is SLI and as far as has been seen, the 690 is slightly under 2x680 in performance.

I was tempted (and still am) to do what you are thinking but common sense is telling me to wait (especially as I can play all games at very very decent frame rates and in 3D). When the need arises, I will probably buy another EVGA and go SLI.

id look into it before spending £800 :p

690 just for bragging rights and for how absolutely gorgeous the thing looks, and 680 SLI for performance, if that kind of thing matters to you.:D

My monitor AsusVG278H :) I love it.

Yeah, that monitor looks great mate, i've got the benq 2410 and 3D vision 1, I know you have vision 2 and was seriously thinking of upgrading myself but just can't bring myself to spend the extra for lightboost. Did you ever play with 3D vision 1 and if so how big is the difference?
If it's just the lightboost thing then I think i'd rather spend on the sli option.
