This isn't a medical thread, already been to a&e.

So, I sprained my ankle/foot on Friday evening playing badminton. Carried on playing for an hour, drove home and then my foot stared swelling. By sat morning it was very swollen and bruised. Went to a&e and told it wasn't broken.

Sunday it looked like this:

Everyone tells me it should be killing me bit I have very little pain and canot walk nearly fine on it.

Anyone else had a bad sprain? What was your experience?

Damn, looks like an aubergine!

Never sprained my ankle that bad before. Done it playing football and it was sore for a bit.

Had one nearly 3 years ago, told it was a sprain but I'm sure I tore some ligaments .

3 years later I suffer everyday,I have a 6inch by 6inch dry patch on the side of my thigh which burns like hell,my ankle goes to sleep quite quickly and I get lots of pins and kneedles, takes me 5 mins to get out of bed while I'm waiting for my ankle to wake up.

But apart from that it's all good :)

Yep, I did this playing football, I was laid up for a couple of weeks unable to stand on it. It's never been the same since and the skin covering the area looks like that of a 90 yr old!

Looks nasty for a sprain. Ive broke both my ankles due to falls at work, and tbh swelling was pretty minimal.

That's what you get for playing badminton. Play a man's game.

(get well soon, looks bloody painful ;))

I'd go back to A&E for a second opinion if I were you. I 'sprained' my wrist (come on GD, do your worse) during archery practice. I went to A&E, had x-rays done and everything but was told it wasn't broken and sent home. Cue a couple of painful, and sleepless, days later it had swollen up and turned all manner of black, purple and yellow just like your ankle. I went back the next day only for them to discover it was indeed broken and needed setting, plastering up and a sling.

My friend said the same thing, he had a sprain and was sent home then they phoned up saying it was a break. The odd thing is, despite it looking so bad I feel very little pain. Nearly got full motion back already, slight pins and needles now and then and it feels normal.
