A Battlefield 2142 thread

Just sold my BF2 copies, didnt realise that 2142 was so close to shipping, deffo going to order for £20, even if it just gives a few months play its only £20.

How do you become a veteran? Do you have to order via EA to get this or is there a site you can upgrade your BF2 account??
 
Meh looks ok to me... havent really played the last one! but it will make a change to running around in the bushes :)

I expect I may buy this one!
 
Battlefield 2142 Demo This Week

Electronic Arts unveiled that a playable demo for Battlefield 2142 will be launched on October 4th, giving you the chance to try out the next installment in the Battlefield franchise, scheduled to ship worldwide this month. Team play features allow up to 64 players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates. With in-game success, players increase their rank and unlock awards, including new weapons, medals and more.

I've got this on pre-order, but i'm not sure whether to cancel or not. All the offical vids & trailers look great, but all the actual gameplay vids i've seen look pretty poor... I guess I'll try the demo tomorrow!

If i get it, I want to get it at the start so I have enough time to get a nice rank before the next game comes out :) Hopefully everyone won't desert BF2 with this aswell...

Odd that you cant use non-alphabetic characters as a user or player name :confused:

Also pre-ordered mine, hope it comes a bit quicker than the 5-7 days shipping time they state, still there will be the demo out to get my teeth into :p

On the subject of ranks, has anyone else seen how many there are now??! Must be well over 30 different ranks, all with odd number requirements.
 
Yeah hopefully people wont desert BF2. I love BF2 finally after 5 patches but I'm not going to be buying 2142. I had about 10 minutes on the beta. Was banned from most servers without connecting to a game. Server crashed and CTDs again.
 
bf2 is good yes after all the patches but its still quite buggy :( and they ruined C4. Now all u get is people driving cars with C4 loaded on them.
 
The thing which i think i will miss most is an aeroplane equivilent vehicle in BF2142. From the beta all the airborne vehicles seemed far far too easy to fly and almost uncrashable unlike in BF2 where i found it difficult to fly them. I hope they are harder to control in the full game because it feel's like some of the skill has been taken away.
 
I really need a clan for this game. I was enjoying the beta so much and finding whoring points incredibly easy. Really want to play BF2142 competetively in ED et having done it in bf2. Anyone know of any clans searching for a new member? Please put me in touch, email in trust :).

Anyone else enjoy playing in clans?
 
I'm waiting for the demo. Despite many problems (which certainly did annoy me) in battlefield 2, I have to admit that I did enjoy the game and I played it for more than 250 hours. When I look at it that way, I suppose it can't have been all bad. I'll see what I think of the demo and if it feels too much like a plain mod, I'll leave it.

That's a interesting point, not that I liked the planes much anyway. I still think the planes in BF2 are too quick for their own good!
Seems to be a choice of 4 chopper/hover thingmebobs which is nice.

Gotta say im really looking forward to playing with ED-209 :p

Lol same as :D I take it these weren't in the beta's?

Tried to play but had comp issues and roasted it in the end, pre ordered a copy though ;)

Yes the walkers were in the beta, but there was just the one and everyine 1 seemed to fight for that silo..hmmmmm i wonder y :D
