A beginners drink

I'm a little bit different from the 'norm' in that I don't enjoy drinking any hops-type alochol therefore no ciders, beers, ales, lagers etc. I stick to spirits as I have a sweet tooth. I cant beat a glass of neat Kahlua (coffee liquor type) over ice.

I drink alcopops if I'm thirsty (rather than gulping down spirits) but they aren't my drink of choice for getting happy

Alcopops are alright to drink in clubs, in my eyes, maybe even encouraged, but please PLEASE do not sit in a pub drinking smirnoff from the bottle.

Maybe try some ciders to start you off, but seeing as your a 'beginner', be careful as they're stronger than lagers. I recommend Magners, Gaymers, Bulmers, any local brewery ones are quite tasty, maybe even try a scrumpy if you wanna be wasted after a couple of pints ;)

Magners cider or even better Kopperburgs Pear cider (very nice), Vodka and redbull is good because *** redbull is so sweet you can hardly taste the vodka.

try not to stick to one drink all the time, thats boring and with lagers, it can make you feel bloated. Try corona or maybe magners, then move onto spirits; southern comfort + lemonade, vodka + lemonade/coke, JD and coke.

Personally i hate alcopops like WKD and smirnoff, they are packed full of sugar and after a while they make my teeth weird and make me want to heave.

As has been said, alcopops are great but I suggest cider if you find beer a little too much like **** for comfort.

Alcopops, nice and easy to drink, but if your worried about how manly you look drinking them go for some Cider ;)
Tastes a lot better than Lager, haven't really tried any proper beers though so can't comment on them.

Spirits are good..... just it gets expensive.

just make sure you never drink the 'pale ale'... :p

/havent watched american pie in ages...

but for me its bitter > lager

Ok youve convinced me into drinking Magners then i think my dads mate was drinking it, is it that yellow label with green writing in quite a big bottle. And its cider am i right. I hope it dont taste like white lightning or bolt blue as thats disgusting :)
How would you describe the magners taste is it a bit sweet or does it taste like lager?

Becks is one of the nicest lagers you can get easily, Belgian beers are nice, the authentic ones are often very sweet which you might like.

My advice would be to try your tastes with bottled beers, some pubs make a mess of it and you want to know what it *really* tastes like.

You may find dark ale like snecklifter or a stout easier to drink. Guiness is always a safe bet but if you see something like marstons oyster stout or hopback entire stout give them a go, very different.

ps. lagers like becks you want to chill as much as you can - good and cold is best. Dark beers and stout just slightly chilled (15 mins in freezer from room temp is fine), have it really cold and you lose a lot of the flavours.

Yup that's it - don't forget the ice!

I was always told that you get over the vile taste of lager/beer after a short while but I couln't be bothered with it. Try a nice cold pint of (good) cider instead :D

JD & ginger ale (Canada Dry) with plenty of ice. Slips down like a tart's knickers.

Vodka & coke, vodka, lime & lemonade or vodka & orange are good starters.

Archers & lemonade is quite sweet and you might get called a poof but it's an easy drinker.

You can get used to the taste of vile beer I'm sure - or just drink nice beer instead :D

I've never drunk anything I don't like and I've never drunk anything but beer - carling is horrible as are most lagers drunk in the UK, john smiths or tetleys are **** and a lot of pubs can't serve anything other than near frozen chemical beer or guiness without ruining it.

Guiness cold for example - oh my god what did they do? You can't taste it - at a good pub at a decent temperature you are tasting it half an hour after but the cold rubbish is like drinking flat coke.

WOW im so learning about all these drinks theres so many i didnt know theres this many :p

I think for the time being ill stick to magners and then try something completely different from magners from the the lot of choices you gave me already :)

Magners is good. It's not very strong and the ice waters it down even more, you can pack a good few away without getting squiffy. Moving from cider to lager is bad though, the lagers tastes awful.

I second the Magners.

I usually hate cider so i was pleasantly surprised when i tried this. It's probably at its best with lots of ice in the summer time though.

No!!! experimentung is fun!!! :D

If you find you like magners try a good Brandy... Metaxa 7Star or better.

You have to try a good single malt scotch... especially if you like stilton cheese... in which case try the two together.

Pimms and Lemonade great for a hot day and really easy drink (slightly liquorice)

Gin and Tonic might be a bit sour for your tastes at the minute...

Very cold white wine

Room temperature red, on both get a good wine to start with or you will have a really bad opinion.

Go to a cocktail bar with some mates... and try lots! (just have a stretcher on standby!)

Ummm yeah and real ale... I love the stuff but might take some getting used too.

Ohh and might be worth trying Mead as well.
