Basically i cant connect to the internet on my vista x64 pc..its connected via ethernet and its saying it cant find any networks on vista network and sharing...this happened all of sudden and i haven't been able to connect back to the internet..help appreciated thanks.

so you've checked to ensure your router hasn't blown up, and that the cable is good, right? and basics like when you actually get connectivity can you get an ip address from the dhcp server running on your router? can then you ping your router? can you then ping something on your isp's network, such as their dns servers? can you then get further out to say - google? you kinda need to help us to help you, if you see where i'm going...

well i thought it was the router ..so sky sent me a new 1..turns out its not the router i tried uninstalling the network card and disabling it in the bios and then reinstalling but same problem..when i type in ipconfig /all it says media disconnected..lights don't even show up on my router to show that its connected..have a feeling that my nic card is fried

have you tried connecting your pc to a different port on the built-in switch on the router? swapped the cable out? got another machine you can try on the router? got another nic you can try in your machine?
