A bit of a dilemma with my new system...

Hi all,

I've just splashed out on this bad boy, replacing my aging PC with AMD 7970

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/batt...-pc-intel-core-i7-6700k-4.5ghz-fs-18n-ep.html

Prior to that my monitor gave up the ghost and I ordered this AOC monitor to replace it

The issue is now that I have the best GPU on the market with a freesync monitor! I asked in another thread and the advice was to replace the monitor....Problem is, I've only just paid £215 for that and I can't really return it without it having a fault.

Anyways, I've looked at 27 inch Gsync monitors and they are very expensive in comparison. I know I've just spent all that money on a new system but I've actually blown all my spare cash. So my question is....What would you do in my circumstances? Buy a new Gsync? Or just keep the AOC?

Would I actually notice the difference?

Yeah just saw your post there. This is not a good monitor accompaniment for this card. Almost renders your system purchase pointless to be honest. Titan is wasted on that.

When did you buy it? You have 14 days to return without question, doesn't need a fault... you can just change your mind, providing it's not damaged. You will just have to pay for return postage.

You will notice the difference if you got a good G-Sync monitor yes, although it probably depends what games you play. However, I suspect if you got a Titan you aren't playing Minesweeper haha!

You have an immensely powerful GPU there, so there's even an argument for stepping up to a 4K monitor, although personally I think with the 60Hz limitation you'd be better off going ultrawide, which that GPU will be able to max out in most scenarios, and with better immersion.

And yes, G-Sync monitors ARE expensive, but to be fair you probably should have researched this a bit better before you spent £2K on a PC lol! ;)

Yep, point(s) taken!

I've looked into the returns policy and I can return so that's a bonus! Now I've just got to find a monitor for this system.....Any ideas?

The Philips is a good option and it's high Hz, and you can always use DSR to upscale your graphics quality :)

The system will last you a good fair while too, at least 3/4 years

Thanks. I've just been digesting another thread where people seem to Dave about the Dell S2716DG.

This might seem like a stupid question but is there a huge difference between the Phillips monitor and the Dell? My impulse buy of the £2k machine is starting to feel like a bit of a mistake because I can't afford to splash out another chunk of money on a decent monitor.

I'm actually learning towards returning the Battlebox Titan as it feels like it won't be worth it if I can't get a decent monitor to go with it!
