It's my dear white haired old mother's birthday soon and I am thinking about getting her a freeview box she can record Corrie on when she's out. Basically it has to simple  to use and quiet, what unit do you suggest :D ...... oh and under £200 please ;)

I bought my HUMAX PVR9200T dual tuner for about that amount a year ago from a popular high street store. Fantastic bit of kit so far, records two channels and watch a third as long as it on the same multiplex.

Thanks for your advice :) , I read elsewhere that the fan noise can be loud is this the case or is the reviewer being over sensitive

The fans are not any more noisy that any other really.. I would also reccommend this unit !!!

Ps, you better star out that Competitor....

Thanks for that, sorry about the competitor stuff :o :o

Just a thought:

Sky Base Package with a sky+ box comes to £15 a month with a one off charge of £129 (Sky don't charge £10 a month for sky+ any more).

If she is ever likely to get use out of the extra channels, then it may be worth considering. There's not a lot out there that can come close to the Sky+ simplicity of use.
