A Bit of advice.

Unless it had 150k miles on it, I call BS. No ST220 is only worth £5k unless it's traded in at a garage which saw you coming miles off, or it's a complete wreck.
He traded it in. More fool him but that's what he got for it. IIRC it didn't have complete history and was just over 115k miles.

Please don't buy a Civic Type R.

I had one for a total of 4 months, and it has to be THE worst car I have ever owned. OK it went like stink, but the interior is built from reclaimed lego, the driving position will knock your back out and you'll think you're cool 'till you see the biggest chav in town driving one. People seem to think they are cool because you can rev the knackers off em, when actually you have to rev the knackers off em before anything happens.

My advice would be try a Cupra FR or ST170.

I don't really think judging residuals on a car traded it in a dealer with missing service history is entirely fair. Do you?

My point is he's judging the Corsa VXR on depreciation, then sidestepped and blamed the handling instead. Both unfounded arguments for dismissing the car off the list.

As far as i can see from your comments, You blatantly dont want to listen to my arguments on why i shouldnt by a VXR corsa. I didnt side step they are all my concerns on purchasing one. Just because in my post concering depreciation i included a statement they are " no go " does not mean that they are such for this reason alone.

I think so far i have been very open minded and i think you are looking too far into what is being said. But again i arnt going to discount your opinions as they are your own, as are mine.

I sincerely hope you purchase the best vehicle for your needs but there's a wide choice of cars out there and if you're into hot hatches the Corsa VXR is among the top of the tree. Again, not for everyone, but devilishly quick, good handling and huge grip.

What were you driving?
I had just got rid of my Saab 95 Aero [260] and got a Vectra C 2.2 SRi and it was this I was spanked in. :(

Edit: Slow but safe and dependable.

Also, ST's do depreciate quite heaftily, which would make them perfect second hand buys. Mondeo ST for 7.5k - i'll have two please!!

BTW this might be a bit out on a limb as you're looking for a hatchback i think but have you actually considered a Mondeo ST? Sure its quite a bit bigger than a Fez ST, but its one hell of a car for the money.
