Panting like a fiend
I had one of our neighbours pop round today, which in itself is not too unusual, as she's friends with my mum.

What was unusual however was her request, did we have a DS she could borrow to play Brain Training on - my jaw almost hit the floor (fortunately the dog caught it in time;)).

No wonder the DS (and Wii) are selling like hotcakes if as well as the traditional console players they have expanded the potential play group by that much (she's retired).

I'm tempted to put my Wii in the lounge after that.

Yeah, it's amazing. I'd hazard a guess that 99% of people out there know that the Wii or DS are gaming consoles of some sort. Very impressive.

Indeed, my sister is 25 and she never used to be interested in games at all but she got a black DS lite on her last Birthday and is contemplating on getting a wii for her next b'day!

Nintendo have definitely got something right . . . marketing

Yep, just had a couple in their 40s in work 2 days ago buying a DS each so they could race each other in mario kart.

a friend of the family who's in his 40's recently borrowed my ds to give brain training ago my gf's mum recently brought one for same reason and my gf who hates consoles has decided she wants a wii. so nintendo certainly converted the masses that would usually contemplate comp games.

And, perhaps, concept?

Can't see the fuss to play brain training over a long period of time myself.

Had it, and in two weeks had basically completed it (brain age 20, real age 22) ;)

Fastest 20 sec math score was 21 secs.

Yep, DS's are so so popular in my surroundings now, my gf's sis has one, but her family (sis, mum, brother and her) and myself went away last week, i was the only one who took my DS and everyone was on it all the time when we were round the appartment, i had to literally attack her brother to do brain training! He's since bought one and seems to be a real hit!

Hell, even my mum had a go at brain training once..obsessively doing 20 sums for about 45 mins!

My fiancée's parents frequent our house quite regularly, and whenever they're round, they either play the wii or DS for most of the time that they're round! Her mum also has a DS, so she sits and plays wireless games with my other half, it's quite a sight. lol.

Yeah I was surprised at the acknowledgment base when I was demoing the Wii in various Tescos during Wimbledon. Most of the old people that wanted to play already knew about it in someway or another, some had played it at their friends house or had heard about it through magazines etc. Felt really good getting the oldies to play it lol.

major reason people bought wiis was word of mouth. The adverts dont really do much, its just another game console advert..
But when you get someone telling his mate hes played on a wii and is buying one, because its brilliant, then the guy tries his mates, loves it, and buys one.
Thats why they sell. Said guys being over 40 too and not console owners.
