On my normally boring walk home from work just now, I could hear a Police helicopter hovering above quite low. I could not see it as I live in Brighton and the street (Queens Road) where it happened, is surrounded by quite tall buildings. To my right, suddenly, I could hear the loud noise of a powerful motorbike engine being driven at speed. I looked over to see a motorbike zooming towards me. The rider was male and not wearing a helmet. He came up a side road which doesn't join up with Queens road and mounted the pavement right next to me, less than foot away. I had to scramble to avoid being hit at speed. He then joined Queens road and zoomed off on the wrong side of the road and through a red light and disappeared, so I thought.

I popped into Tesco to get my provisions and as I left, the biker zoomed past again in queens road, followed by police cars and a van moments later. The Helicopter is still hovering over now.

It certainly has made my day a little more interesting anyway so I thought I would share.

I had 2 'normal' motorbikes whizz past me today in the car with blue ligts flashing on them and a siren (Police siren). Never seen unmarked police bikes before!!

I bike whizzed past? that's drama? damn suburbia must be boring!! :p

It was obviously stolen, possibly used in a robbery and being chased by several police units. In my book, that's quite interesting. More so than say, "I bike whizzed past".

I wish my life was as exciting as OP's.

Come to Brighton, there's always something interesting going on. I'd happily give you a tour.

What did you buy?

Hot cross buns, a nice piece of steak for my tea and some buttery type spread. I already had a carrier bag so I was saved the 5p charge. The shop was quite well lit and well staffed. The floor was more dirty than I would have really liked and they did have a couple of those annoying large trolley things blocking some shelves but somehow I managed.

I thought the police were not allowed to chase in police cars a motorcyclist who wasn't wearing a helmet ?

PS. great story bro

They give up chase quite quickly (or should according to their guidelines I think) on any bike as it's too dangerous.

Which hot cross buns and what type of steak?

We need to determine whether the biker was a Muslim, immigrant, mumsnet user or not. Only then can this story progress through the GD system.
