Ok so a bit of information first.

Huge house with BT Homehub 3 one end of it. Wirless coverage only covers half the house. Experiences with wireless range extenders in this property have been sketchy at best and the ring mains in the house are a no go as regards Ethernet over power lines. To solve the problem a CAT6 cable has been run from the area with the homehub to the other end of the house with a view to physically connecting a range extender and then in turn supplying wireless coverage to the rest of the house. In the interest of keeping things tidy RJ45 modular wall outlets will be used. So the connections will be like this;

Homehub ---Straight patch cable--- rj45 modular faceplate-------CAT6 PUNCHED DOWN-------rj45 modular faceplate ----Straight patch cable---- Range extender.

The only requirement is getting that range extender working and the tidy patch panels. Are there any special wireing requirements for the patch panels? The panels I was looking at are these;

Sold as being;

These RJ45 modules offer exceptional performance for high speed LAN’s including Gigabit Ethernet applications
High quality components for optimum transmission
Suitable for use with all RJ45 installations including CAT 5, CAT 5e and CAT 6

Installation is made easy with the unique colour coded saddles and the use of industry standard IDCs, making them extremely popular with installers. UW17 = RJ45 Modular Socket CD44 = Single wall plate, fits on to a single gang wall pattress and has space for two RJ45 sockets CD47 = Blanking spacer

So will these do the job or have I overlooked anything? Am I safe to follow the wiring guide as shown on them?

That's it, wire up both ends using the same colour combination (T-568-B is the norm I think, only difference in A being the orange and green pair are reversed). Only advice I can give you is to buy a metal punch down tool, because the plastic ones are useless.
