A bit out of the loop: 780 or R2 290x?

I've been busy doing other things over the last couple of months and I have completely missed the whole R2 290X announcement, etc.

I just have a simple question: GTX 780 or R9 290X?

What are your other specs and monitor etc?

Nothing as of yet, but thinking of doing something like:

21.5 inch 1080p monitor
Core i7 4770k
16GB 2400MHz RAM
Gigabyte Z87-D3H

Sorry to but in to your thread OP but I thought it best ask here instead of making another thread !

No problem .

In July/August, I was really 'in the loop' about the 780 and I even bought one (or two or three ) but I returned all of them as I had 'other, more important things to do'.
