A bug stuck inside my Vaio X-Black screen :/

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-C2M which has a 13.3" X-Black screen on it. A while back I had a small bug crawling around my screen following my mouse pointer. It was amusing at first, but then I squashed it (thinking it was just on my screen) but it was inside my screen (between the glossy part of the screen and the actual panel). Now I have a dead bug in my screen. Serves me right for being a meanie to bugs.

Now, if I were to open up the top part of the laptop, does the glossy part of the screen come away from the rest of the screen so I can get this dead bug out? Or am I stuck with a bug in the screen?

If I'm stuck with it, I have a dead pixel at the same place on the opposite side of the screen, so I guess it makes it symmetrical

Thanks in advance :)

I suspect that if the glossy part were attached/sealed to the screen, the bug would not have been able to get there in the first place. tbh you will have to take the screen apart anyway.

ask Sony for a quote on out of warranty repair. They provide good repair service but hopefully they would not charge you for a whole screen replacement.

I thought the same thing. Until I watched a video to fix the white screen issue on a Samsung NC10 and the glossy part seems to be attached to that screen. I suppose like you say, I'll have to take the screen apart anyway, so I might just leap right in :D

I thought of that, I've had the laptop about 3 or 4yrs now (it's still decent spec-wise) and I'm pretty skint at the min so was hoping for a free alternative until it bugs me enough to pay for it to be fixed ;)

Thanks for your replies, I might just pop it open later today - see what I can do.

Edit: So I popped the frame off the screen and the glossy part appears to be part of the actual screen. There's nothing that looks like I can peel away or unscrew to remove it so I'll have to make do with the dead bug there for the time being. Gutted!
