Hi there, I picked up a Yamaha RX-V630RDS and 2 big speakers off of ebay as my TV speakers are somewhat lacking. I've connected my 360, PS3 and Sky+ box through component for the consoles, and I'm attempting to use a scart to RCA adapter for the Sky+ picture. Audio goes through the optical, which I've had no problem with.

I've tried having the Sky box through scart to RCA or S-Video into the reciever, and no picture. I've also tried both of these directly to the TV, and only S-Video works but its in black and white :(. So I think something might be up with the Sky+ box, does anyone know what setting I might need it on?

Secondly, when using the PS3, anytime that the screen is too bright, the TV loses the signal. It is connected through component to the reciever, I never had any problems directly to the TV with HDMI. When I scroll down the games list and get to Wipeout HD, the wipeout background appears (which is mostly white) and the TV loses signal. When in the game, on the main menu which is also white, I also have no signal, but when I press the PS button to get the darker XMB, the picture comes back. I havn't been able to test this with the 360, but it happens with blu-rays as well. Is the receiver missing something that allows it to deal with such bright whites?

If anyone can help me with this I'd be very grateful :D

What settings do you have the sky box set to? rgb/composite?
In the ps3 display settings what are they set too too?
What tv do you have?

I only have RGB or PAL, PAL looks pretty bad.
I have the ps3 on 1080i, which looks fine until bright white comes into play.
The TV is a 32" Technika, no idea on the model, my mum bought it from tesco :D

With all this I'm thinking of just keeping everything direct to the TV and only using the receiver for sound, just means more faffing with remotes.

Honestly, why are you using RCA, or S-Video. The Sky+ box will give the best picture quality with Scart in RGB mode, and that will likely only work if its connected directly to the TV.

Scart RGB is noticebly better colour purity than Composite or S-Video. S-Video in black and white generally means that either the TV's scart socket doesnt support S-Video (which if its an RGB compliant socket it normally wont support S-Video), or the TV needs a setting/adjustment to allow S-Video to work.

Ok I think I'll have to keep it on scart then, I just wanted everything connected up to the reciever but this will have to do for now.

Any ideas on the PS3 issue? It's really bugging me.
