1st of all am i correct is saying a core duo T2400 would be faster than a pentium M 2.13ghz processor?

Also Are all core duo's better than the single core pentium M's?

And last of all Would the Celeron Mobiles be better than the old celeron's no matter what sort fo speeds.

Thanks

All depends on the speeds of the chips you are comparing and what kind of things you do with your laptop (you talk about mobile chips, both a T2400 and mobile celeron are usually only for laptops etc)

In general however yes a core duo chip would find it easier to run windows and a couple of applications / task bar utilities simultaneously (with the same size and speed of ram) in my opinion, the user experience would be smoother with a core duo - please be aware that core duo cpu's are only single cores ( yes I know Intel chose a deceptive name, not for the first time)

I know a T2500 is only 2Ghz, so a T2400 is likely to be around 1.8Ghz, so even though clock speed is lower I would still say due to the new design that it would be a faster chip - but having never used a Pentium M thats only an educated guess.

I have stayed away from Celerons of all types, and depending on what you want to do with this machine, I wouldnt even consider them now unless you really cant afford a core duo unit, I would even go as far as to state that even an older pentium M machine would be better than a newer celeron one - depending on the related spec etc of course

O.k. thanks, Are you sure the core duo's only have a single core? i thought that was the point that they have 2 cores on one physical processor?

No, they are Dual Core.
It's the Core Solo which is single core.
The Core Duo is somewhat slower than a Core 2 Duo, which are appearing on laptops too now. But it will be at least as fast as the Pentium M in single core operation & it has the second core too. I wouldn't even hesitate to choose it over the Pentium M.
To summarise Core 2 Duo > Core Duo > Pentium M. Of course it all depends on the price differences.

I be running 2 MoD machine one Pentium M 735 @ 2.26GHz & one Core Duo T2500 (2x2GHz, 2MB)
The single core P-M is starting to show its age now, but run perfectly well for my media center :)
