Help!

Ordered the wrong boiler, so I'm having to return the item, at my own expense. :(

The cheapest I can find is TNT, which fully insured is £70. :( Money I really could do without spending, was around £30, but an additional £30 for the insurance to cover it for the full £660 value.

Anyone know of anywhere better?

99cmx54cmx45cm and 38.9kg if that's any help. :p

Was much cheaper on Parcel Monkey, but boilers are prohibited items so if it gets damaged I'm out of pocket by over £600, balls.

I find it strange courier companies charge you to insure against their stupidity. £70 isn't a bad price really.
I know, it's really annoying.

What's even more annoying is that the company are delivering the correct boiler in the next couple of days, but they wont take back the original one even though I've forked out more money to their company.

No leg to stand on cause in their DSR statement it says i'm liable, killer.

Why is that out of interest?

If they state that the customer will have to pay for any return fees then that's that. If they don't list that, the seller has to refund it.

Not sure I fully understand that, but they can't write their own version of DSR if that's what that is, either the items are exempt, or they aren't.

Edit: ^ A, I understand.

From DSR:

'Who pays return postage?
The seller's terms and conditions or returns policy should state who pays the cost of returning goods.

If they don't state this, then the seller has to cover the cost.'

And yeah it was free delivery anyway, so the correct boiler is free delivery anyway.

Painful £70 to lose for absolutely nothing.

Is it possible to deliver it yourself?

I've bought and sold stuff, and sometimes it's cheaper for me to do the delivery myself. Of course it also depends on whether I can spare the time.

Sadly it's about a 2 hour drive each way, so no. :(

It's a boiler and flue, the flue box is longer. So if I do it as 2 separate packages I can courier it fully insured for £60, I think it's going to have to do.

You could send it on a half pallet with pallex or UK pallets for half the cost of TNT.

Where is this boiler located and is it boxed?

could you talk to the people that you got it from and tell them you are prepared to pay a `restocking` fee if they will take the one you ordered in error when they drop off the new one?

2 hour drive each way isn't that bad? Might be a tanks worth of petrol if that for both ways.

Although it does depend on the route your taking.

Look up B&Q van hire. It's £14 an hour and you dont pay petrol and no milage limit. Much cheaper but it will cost you your time by the sounds of things.
